Two marijuana grow operations found by Police near Little Fort
| News - Regional news |
On December 27, Clearwater RCMP officers executed a search warrant on a residence in Little Fort. Once inside officers found 167 marihuana plants in various stages.
Electricity was being stolen by way of a hydro by-pass, which is not only illegal, but a safety hazard to those in the house and the surrounding area as well. BC Hydro crews attended the scene and disconnected the power due to safety concerns.
No one was home at the time but police do know the identity of the resident and expect to make an arrest in the near future. The occupant faces charges of Production of a Controlled Substance, Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking and Theft.
A search warrant was also executed in Little Fort on Bridge Lake Road (Highway #24) on December 19. At that time officers found 13 plants and over 300 grams of marijuana. Three occupants were arrested and charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance are being considered. There was one firearm as well.
"Even though it’s the holiday season police are still out conducting investigations and following up on leads. Crime takes no break." states Corporal Chris Newel of the Clearwater RCMP Detachment
