Gold Country Communities Society board of directors is proud to announce the 2009 Gold Nugget Contest winner, Betty Dery of Bonnyville, Alberta. 

Dery visited the Gold Country region during her annual ‘sisters’ week’, joining her three sisters for some family adventure. 

“Wow, what a bonus!” exclaimed Dery when advised she was the lucky winner of the annual Gold Country nugget draw. “You can bet I will be back to do some more exploring.” 

The sisters toured briefly through Gold Country during their week vacation, but are already making plans to return to spend more time in the region next year. “We all enjoy fishing, especially when there is fish to be caught,” says Betty, after watching the fish jump during their drive along Loon Lake. 

From a ranching family, the ladies enjoyed museums, shops, visiting with locals and exploring Gold Country sites in 2009. Only time will tell what adventure these vibrant woman will uncover on their future sisters’ week. 

The Gold Nugget Contest is run annually in the Official Gold Country Visitors’ Guide. Entrants must visit a minimum of three Information Centres, Museums or Heritage Centres throughout the Gold Country region and collect a unique stamp.
