Attempted credit card fraud in Williams Lake

On December 16, 2009 Williams Lake RCMP received a report of an attempted credit card fraud at a business in Williams Lake. Two VISA card numbers were given over the phone under a different name than on the face of the cards.
The risk of fraudulent attempts increases in telephone and internet based transactions. Williams Lake RCMP is reminding businesses to take the proper precautious to confirm credit card use is not fraudulent over the holiday season.
Williams Lake RCMP encourage members of the public to contact CrimeStoppers or the RCMP if they have any information, or knowledge regarding these incidents.
