West Sheridan Road paved for improved safety
| News |
The paving of a five kilometre stretch of West Sheridan Road will improve the safety and reliability of the road for motorists, Cariboo-Chilcotin MLA Donna Barnett announced today.
“This project has been a priority for area residents and recreational users, and will make West Sheridan Road safer and more reliable,” says Barnett. “An improved road will also benefit our local economy by facilitating a potential increase in mountain pine beetle logging. Along with the upgrade to West Sheriden Road, I will continue to work with Transportation Minister Shirley Bond to explore options for improvements to other roads in our region including Eagle Creek Road.”
The newly paved section will extend from one kilometre east of Highway 24 to Boulanger Road. Once the $750,000 project is complete, the entire paved section of West Sheridan Road will be a total of six kilometres. Work is expected to begin this week.
In addition a series of CN Rail crossings near Lone Butte will be upgraded over the next few weeks, by replacing wood timbers with concrete pads. The crossings include Lone Butte-Horse Lake Road, Highway 24 and Watch Lake Road.
