RCMPshield_crest2100 Mile House RCMP responded to 167 calls for service, some highlights are below. 

On August 17, at approximately 8:50pm, 100 Mile House RCMP stopped a speeding vehicle near Canim Lake. Further investigation revealed that the driver was under the influence of liquor. The driver was detained and failed to provide a breath sample when requested by the officer. The male also failed to produce a drivers licence and had no insurance. The male was released with several Motor Vehicle Act violation tickets and charges of impaired driving as well as refusal to provide a breath sample are being recommended to Crown against the local area resident. 

On August 18, at approximately 3;00am, 100 Mile House RCMP attended a residence where a male allegedly broke into the residence and threatened a male and female with a knife. The male had departed the residence prior to police arrival but was outside the residence. The male was arrested by police and a knife was recovered near the scene. The male, a local 100 Mile House resident was held in custody and charges of break and enter with intent, uttering threats and possession of a dangerous weapon are being recommended to Crown. Alcohol was a factor and there were no injuries to the occupants of the residence. 

On August 18, at approximately 3:54am, 100 Mile House RCMP responded to a single vehicle motor vehicle incident approximately four km north of Lac La Hache on Highway 97 S. A red Dodge pickup truck had crossed the center line into the south bound lane while travelling north bound. The vehicle then struck a hydro pole shearing it off and came to rest in a field. The fallen hydro pole resulted in the highway being closed for approximately one hour for public safety until hydro could deem the area safe. One of the two occupants had minor injuries and was transported to the 100 Mile House Hospital. Alcohol is considered a factor and police are continuing their investigation. Anyone with information regarding the vehicle's driving habits are asked to contact the 100 Mile House RCMP at 250-395-2456.

On August 20, at approximately 2:47pm, 100 Mile House RCMP responded to a complaint of  a motor vehicle incident south of Lac La Hache on Highway 97 S. It was determined a black Pontiac Sunfire had gone off the road to the right and sustained approximately $5000 damage. The driver received minor injuries and was transported to 100 Mile House Hospital, where he was later released. The investigation revealed that the driver had fallen asleep at the wheel when the incident occurred. The male driver, a non local resident received a violation ticket under the Motor Vehicle Act for failing to keep right. 

On August 21, at approximately 12;30am, 100 Mile House RCMP were conducting a road check on Horse Lake Road. A vehicle had attempted to avoid the road check by turning around and was intercepted by police. The driver identified as a local resident, was requested to provide a road side breath sample. The sample indicated the driver failed, who was subsequently detained and returned to the 100 Mile House RCMP station for further breath samples. The driver blew over the legal limit and was subsequently issued a road side prohibition and additional three month driving prohibition. The driver was also issued a violation ticket for driving without insurance. 

On August 21, at approximately 9:58pm, 100 Mile House RCMP responded to a complaint of a road rage incident. It was determined that a female was confronted by a male on Highway 97 S near 105 Mile. The male was brandishing a tire iron and confronted the female driver about driving with her high beams on. The male did not assault the female and departed the area in an older black Chevrolet Suburban with no licence plate. The male is described as a Caucasian, approximately 60 years old, slim build, balding with grey hair, wearing a gray T-shirt and blue jeans. 

On August 28, at approximately 9:17pm, Chilcotin Cariboo Traffic Services unit was conducting enforcement south of 100 Mile House, when they stopped a speeding vehicle travelling at 171 KPH in a posted 100KPH zone. The driver was identified as a Kelowna resident, who was under the influence of liquor. The driver provided a road side breath sample and failed, that resulted in his detention. The male driver was then brought to the 100 Mile House Detachment for further investigation of impaired driving. The male provided samples that indicated he was over the legal limit and released with a court appearance date of November 2, 2010. Police are recommending charges of impaired driving, operate a motor vehicle over .08 and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle under the Criminal Code.
