When the world comes to Vancouver for the Olympic Winter Games, the Cariboo is going to be well represented at one of the focal points for tourists & athletes during the Games. BC Street in Richmond is going to be a main attraction for visitors to Vancouver. It will be an 18 thousand square foot pavilion accommodating approximately 15 thousand visitors each day and will showcase seven different regions from around BC in a street-long trade fair-type atmosphere, but at a world class Olympic level.

Starting February 12th BC Street will showcase each region with its own unique pavilion It gives BC communities the chance to become neighbours in a unique and high profile setting, where local governments can meet, greet, and build relationships with visitors from Metro Vancouver, the Province of BC, Canada and the world. The different regions that will be represented include Vancouver Coast Mountains, Comox Valley, Sooke, South-Okanagan Similkameen, The District of Tofino, The Kootenay Rockies and the Cariboo Regional District.

BC Street is an ambitious project designed to showcase the business and tourism opportunities in six major BC regions, including the Cariboo Chilcotin Coast. The Cariboo Regional District in partnership with the Cariboo Chilcotin Coast Tourism Association will be showcasing eco-tourism and wilderness adventure, agriculture, non-timber forest products and the cowboy culture of the Cariboo Chilcotin Coast.

In addition, the Cariboo Chilcotin's 2010-2011 Forest Capital of Canada designation will serve as the overarching theme of the region's pavilion. Industry representatives will be on-hand to talk to spectators about the many facets of forestry in the Cariboo Chilcotin amongst a forest made of trees transported directly from the region! The Cariboo Regional District together with the Cariboo Chilcotin Coast Tourism Association will be manning their visitors’ booth on BC Street, which will provide an unparalleled opportunity to promote the economic development, tourism, sports tourism and cultural assets that the Cariboo has to offer. There will be interactive kiosks that visitors to the CRD pavilion can use to find out about the Cariboo, to go along with representatives from our region on hand to answer visitors questions.

Throughout the pavilion visitors will discover our region's unique tourism and business opportunities and learn about all the things which make the Cariboo Chilcotin the best place to work, live and play in BC. Eco-tourism and wilderness adventures, agriculture, non-timber forest products and cowboy culture are just a few of the other sectors that will be incorporated into the pavilion. Reaching an international audience like never before, visitors of BC Street will experience the Cariboo Chilcotin with all five senses at the most dramatic and exciting celebration of the Olympic Games.
