RCMP highlights to February 1, 2010

100 Mile House RCMP responded to 68 complaints and calls for service over the last week. Some of the highlights are below.
On January 25th, 100 Mile House RCMP responded to a residential fire at Lakeshore drive, Horse Lake. 100 Mile, 108 Mile and Lone Butte Fire Department were already on scene fighting the fire. The residence was completely engulfed and there was no one in the residence at the time of the fire. The fire has been determined to not be suspicious by Fire Investigators.
On January 26th, 100 Mile House RCMP responded to a residential fire at a residence in the 6600 block of Highway 97. Police set-up traffic control to allow emergency vehicles to get to the location. All of the occupants of the residence were located and no one was inside at the time of the fire. The fire has been determined not to be suspicious. The Fire department is continuing to investigate.
On January 28th, 100 Mile House RCMP responded to a two vehicle collision at the intersection of Horse Lake and Blackstock Road. The driver of a black 2007 Kia SUV impacted the rear of a 1994 Ford Aspire which was waiting to turn off onto Blackstock Road. The female driver of the Kia lost control, left the roadway and impacted with a BC Hydro support pole. The occupants of the Kia were treated by ambulance on scene. The occupants of the other vehicle were not injured. The female driver of the Kia has been charged with Drive without Due Care and Attention under the Motor Vehicle Act.
On January 28th, 100 Mile House RCMP and 100 Mile Traffic Services participated in the traffic control for the 2010 Olympic Torch Run as it made it's way through the Detachment area. The RCMP would like to thank the residents of Lone Butte, 100 Mile House, 108 Mile Ranch and Lac La Hache or their cooperation during the road closures. the events were well attended and there were no traffic or pedestrian issues identified.
On January 28th, 100 Mile House RCMP responded to a single vehicle, roll-over accident in the 6000 block of Horse Lake road. The male occupants were not injured. Investigation revealed that the driver did not possess a valid drivers license and was charged under the Motor Vehicle Act.
On January 31st, 100 Mile House RCMP stopped a vehicle for speeding. There were two male occupants. A smell of marijuana was detected within the vehicle. The driver and passenger were arrested. A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of 72 of harvested marijuana. Charges of Possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking has been recommended to Crown against a 55 year old resident of Vancouver and a 55 year old resident of the United States.
