Cariboo emergency response organizations benefit from $134,740

The South Cariboo Search & Rescue, community policing and volunteer fire departments will receive funding for public safety, first responders and fire protection. A total of $134,740 in Community Gaming Grants will go to these local rescue organizations.
“In rural areas like ours, these local organizations are extremely important for the safety of our communities,” says Cariboo-Chilcotin MLA Donna Barnett. “It is crucial that our volunteer fire fighters and search and rescue teams have access to equipment upgrades and proper training in the event of an emergency.”
Recipients of the Community Gaming Grants are as follows:
· $56,740 to Watch Lake North Green Lake Volunteer Fire Department for fire protection and first responder systems
· $30,000 to 70 Mile House Volunteer Fire Fighters Association to increase public safety
· $25,000 to
· $10,000 to Green Lake Volunteer Fire Department Society
· $8,000 to 100 Mile & District Community Policing Consultative Committee
· $5,000 to Hawkins Lake Volunteer Fire Fighters Association
Government gaming grants allow eligible organizations to apply for gaming revenues to support a broad range of programs and services. The recipients of these grants use their funding to increase public safety by upgrading equipment and training, benefiting the community overall.
