BC Hydro threatens rate hikes

BC Hydro is prepared to raise hydro rates to pay for dozens of houses the utility bought to resolve a controversial power-line project south of Vancouver.
BC Hydro purchased 104 of the 138 homes in the Tsawwassen Heights neighbourhood earlier this year, putting an end to a long-running dispute with many homeowners about a high-voltage transmission line it had put up near the buildings.
A number of residents were concerned about the possible health effects of electromagnetic radiation from the lines.
