Liquor fines for serving minors to double in 2010
| News |
The province is doubling fines for liquor offences involving minors, effective January 1, 2010.
The increase affects fines issued to the public, patrons of licensed establishments and servers for infractions such as underage drinking, public intoxication and minors purchasing liquor. Most fines have at least doubled from previous levels.
The Province will continue to take action against licensees for problems occurring within their establishment. However, these changes will also allow the Province’s liquor inspectors to fine servers who knowingly serve minors or intoxicated patrons in licensed establishments.
