Letter to the Editor
I spent last week on the road; travelling through the Okanagan and Kamloops on Opposition Critic business. That same week the Olympic Torch made its way through the same region of the province and up through the Cariboo. I always seemed to be one day behind the festivities!
By all accounts, every community greeted the torch with great fanfare and even greater emotion. Despite all the questions and criticism surrounding Vancouver’s hosting of the Olympics and their impact on rural BC, events like the Torch Relay touch a deep nerve of national pride that allows us to put aside our differences and our gripes and simply celebrate who we are and where we live.

Letter to the Editor regarding the NDP survey
Sent to Paul Dewar, MP
The mass mailing from the NDP regarding British Columbia's HST gives me some concern. The most obvious concern is that to check off boxes to either agree or disagree with each of the three statements are much too clearly designed to elicit the response you want.
What's with the 712 area Code?

"Do you use a Conference Call line? Or phone one?"
I am a Conference Caller Junkie and I'm not ashamed to say it! There, now that I got that off my chest!
In the last few months, I have been 'awoken' to the "internet rampage"....where at the tip of your fingertips is knowledge and learning. I have to admit though that I am a "Sensory" learner...I like to 'read' what I am learning, and 'hear' what I am learning. So I have been opened up to the whole "Free Conference" experience.
Where did the money come from to build the Soccer fields?
Letter to the Editor

To the editor;
100 Mile House and area now has four tournament standard sized soccer fields. The development of this Soccer Park was driven by the 100 Mile House and District Soccer Association (OMHSA).The first two fields will be used starting in the spring of 2010 and the remaining two will be used in 2011 and beyond, after we give the grass a chance to fully mature.
In recent news, interest was generated as to how the OMHSA Soccer Park Development was funded.
Dear BC Legislature: Your input, as requested
Letter to the Editor
Dear Editor;
I have written this letter to the BC Legislature in answer to their request for public input.
Finance Committee
BC Legislature
Re Budget 2010
You have requested public input in preparation of the 2010-11 budget.
There are, I believe, four overriding factors that must be reflected in the next budget. 1. climate change; 2. ever increasing energy costs; 3. needed emerging new economy and 4. debt reduction. Health and education dominate our legislative discussion but if these over arching factors are not in your thinking I fail to see how our societal objectives can be met.
New coordinator needed for the South Cariboo Garlic Festival
Letter to the Editor

To the editor;
This letter is addressed to the wonderful people of the South Cariboo.
A dream that began in Forest Grove at Kariboo Farms 10 years ago was another reason to have a good time with the most aromatic ingredient – garlic.
We wanted to invite the community and even the world to go to the beautiful South Cariboo and a good time was had by all; the festival grew and time passed.
After seven years at Kariboo Farms, the festival out-grew the farm and it was moved to Centennial Park in 100 Mile House, where it continued to grow. Years passed and this year we enjoyed the 10th anniversary.

Racism not acceptable in Forest Grove
Letter to the Editor

Photo: This ignorant act of vandalism occurred the day before school started in Forest Grove.)
Dear Editor;
I wonder how residents of the South Cariboo would react to an egg being splattered against their living room window late at night and the words "Nigger Lovers" written in felt pen on the siding below this window. This is exactly what happened on the night of September 8 to Max and Janett King who live in Forest Grove and I find no words to describe how angry I feel about this terrible racist act.
