Voluntary over-the-counter product recall limited to Rolaids® Antacid bottles in Canada

Recently, McNeil Consumer Healthcare in the U.S., in consultation with the FDA, announced a voluntary recall of certain lots of OTC products in North America, Central America and the Caribbean. In Canada, the impact does not extend beyond ROLAIDS® ANTACID TABLETS packaged in bottles of 150 and 100 counts.

In consultation with Health Canada, McNeil Consumer Healthcare (Canada), Division of Johnson & Johnson Inc., is voluntarily recalling bottles of ROLAIDS® ANTACID TABLETS manufactured in the US. The Canadian company is taking this voluntary action as a precaution following consumer reports of an unusual odor.

Based on an ongoing investigation, uncharacteristic odors have been linked back to certain wood pallets used in the transportation and storage of packaging materials used in the affected product. We have discontinued the use of these pallets to transport and store our packaging materials.

Consumers who have purchased bottles of ROLAIDS® ANTACID TABLETS should stop using the product and contact McNeil Consumer Healthcare (Canada) at 1-800-661-4659, Monday-Friday 8:00a.m. to 8:00p.m. EST for instructions on how to return or replace the product. Consumers can also log on to the internet at www.jnjcanada.com
