Crews work to protect life and property within the Cariboo

Due to windy, hot, dry conditions, fire activity continues to intensify and challenge wildfire personnel.
Aggressive fire behaviour has caused the Dog Creek fire, located 40 kilometres south of William’s Lake, to reach an estimated 1,800 hectares in size. Fire crews are on site, working in conjunction with heavy machinery to create a fire guard on the southern flank of the fire. Helicopters are also on site, dropping water on the fire’s perimeter. The Forest Service’s primary objective is to protect life and property. Structural Protection Units have been put in place on structures immediately threatened.
The fire, located 40 kilometres south of William’s Lake, has caused Evacuation Orders and Alerts in the Dog Creek area.
