One of the most anticipated winter events in the South Cariboo is the Highway 24/Interlakes Lions Club derby and it's almost upon us. 

Over 1000 tickets have been sold for the ice fishing contest which will take place on Sunday, February 14 from 7:00am–2:00pm on Sheridan Lake. 

"Prizes will be awarded following the weigh-in at 2:00pm, including a $400 GPS unit, an electric garage door opener, a $160 fish finder, a set of Walkie Talkies, and a snow mobile helmet," advised Stan Matthews, event organizer.  "There will be prizes just for the kids and over 100 regular draw prizes, too.  It's going to be a full house, and don't forget that proceeds go to the Easter Seal Campaign."  Commemorative t-shirts and jackets, toques, caps available. 

As a special Valentine's Day bonus, the ladies will receive chocolates and a carnation. 

Entry is only $5, you can pay when you get there.
