'A home away from home' at multi-age Kids ‘R’ Us
| Business - News |
You can tell as soon as you walk in the door; children are happy here. Kids ‘R’ Us opened in December 2008 and are now at their new location at 170A Cedar Avenue in 100 Mile House. Operated by owner Denise Robertson, along with Program Coordinator Charlene Pennock and Jennifer Jones, the facility is a charming, decorative venue for licensed day care for children from ages 1 to 12. The multi-age program offers an environment rich in fun and friendship. They assist in social development by fostering virtues such as confidence, respect, honesty, responsibility and kindness in our children. The structured programs offer professional care and age-appropriate activities. Included at Kids ‘R’ Us are snacks, homework time, circle time, craft and activities and reading.
Denise, with an extensive background in child education, has spent many years working with children in a variety of situations. Her love of children is evident as she speaks about her business.
“We have a very clean environment here and our number one priority is the children,” says Denise.
Kids ‘R’ Us provides year-round services, including full-day programs during Christmas and Spring Breaks and Pro-D days. Their fees are designed to accommodate each family’s individual needs by offering a variety of affordable and flexible child care options.
Program Coordinator Charlene Pennock says. “We have awesome parents and the kids are so bright!” She also explains that the staff is fully licensed.
This month the children have a ‘Community Helpers’ theme. Parents get a monthly newspaper. Homework is done at the centre, enabling parents to spend quality time with their children after work. There are also napping facilities for those kids that need them.
Everyday, the children do crafts and letters and numbers. There is a dress-up centre and science and math is taught where developmentally appropriate.
The children are really happy here. Mariah Anderson, 3, says, “I like the crafts best!” Four year old Angelina Cocks, ‘like taking pictures” and four year old Kathleen Pennock “likes drawing pictures.” Denise Robertson’s personal philosophy about her business is that it
be “a home away from home!”
Come and see for yourself that this is a place where children are safe and secure and receiving lifestyle guidance with an abundance of fun!
