100 Mile House RCMP weekly highlights to January 11, 2011
100 Mile House RCMP responded to 78 complaints and calls for service this past week.
On January 4, 100 Mile House RCMP and emergency responders attended a single-vehicle collision that occurred on Highway 97 at 103 Mile. The driver of a 2006 Toyota Matrix lost control and roller the vehicle down the side of an embankment. The driver was taken by ambulance to the 100 Mile House Hospital where she was treated and released. Weather and road conditions were believed to be a factor.
On January 4, RCMP received a report of an abandoned vehicle behind a business on Alder Avenue in 100 Mile House. The vehicle, a 2007 Hyundai Sante Fe, had been left with the rear window smashed out. Investigation revealed that the plate on the vehicle was not the correct plate and that the vehicle had been stolen from Kamloops on December 25, 2010. The vehicle was processed for physical evidence and towed. The investigation into this matter is continuing.
On January 5, 100 Mile House RCMP received a report of a break and enter to a seasonal cabin on the south side of Sheridan Lake which had occurred sometime after November 25, 2010. A 1980 Arctic Cat Panther snowmobile was stolen from the property.
On January 7, 100 Mile House RCMP responded to a complaint of a possible impaired driver at Canim Lake. The vehicle was stopped a short time later and a male driver was found to be under the influence of liquor. The driver met the requirements for the Immediate Roadside Prohibition Laws, was issued a three month driving prohibition and the vehicle was impounded for 30 days. The driver was held in custody until sober, and released the next morning.
On January 7, 100 Mile House Traffic Services pulled a vehicle over for operating erratically. The male driver of the vehicle was determined to have consumed alcohol. The driver met the requirements for the Immediate Roadside Prohibition Laws, was issued a three month driving prohibition and the vehicle was impounded for 30 days. The driver was released at the scene.
On January 8, 100 Mile House RCMP responded to a two-vehicle collision on Highway 97 at the Canim/Hendrix Lake Road intersection. The driver of the south bound pick-up was turning east onto Canim/Hendrix Lake Road on a green light. There were two vehicles travelling north on Highway 97. The driver of the pick-up truck turned in front of a Toyota Corolla and the driver of the Corolla was not able to stop in time to prevent a collision. There were no injuries as a result of this incident, though both vehicles were towed. The driver of the pick-up was issued a violation ticket under the Motor Vehicles Act.
