RCMP highlights to September 27, 2010
100 Mile House RCMP responded to 72 complaints and calls for service, below are some highlights.
On September 20, 100 Mile House RCMP responded to a commercial break and enter to a business located in the 100 block of Birch Avenue. The front door to the Village Hair Studio had been smashed. Witnesses reported seeing a large male leaving the scene in an older black SUV. The cash register was taken off the counter but there was no money inside.
On September 23, 100 Mile House RCMP issued their first seven day suspension under the new excessive speed legislation. A vehicle was stopped for exceeding the speed limit by 52 km/h. The driver was issued a violation ticket for excessive speed and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
On September 24, 100 Mile House RCMP pulled a vehicle over in the 108 Mile Ranch for having a headlight out. The driver was determined to have consumed alcohol in such a quantity that the provisions of the new immediate Roadside Prohibition took effect. The driver's license was seized and the driver was subject to an immediate 90 day driving prohibition. The vehicle was seized and impounded for 30 days.
During the reporting week, there were four additional vehicles impounded under the excessive speeding laws and one other immediate roadside prohibition issued. 100 Mile House RCMP and Traffic Services would like to remind the public that there will be continued enforcement in these areas.
