BC SPCA has Christmas wish list
Although B.C.'s largest non-profit animal welfare society probably has wishes all through the year, Bob Busch, general manager of operations for the B.C. S.P.C.A., says they no longer require donations of pet food.
"As we are a not-for-profit (society), many of our branches have relied heavily on food donations from the public or pet supply stores and these acts of kindness have been appreciated tremendously," says Busch.
In May of 2009, the B.C. S.P.C.A. entered into a two-year partnership with Hill's Pet Nutrition Canada Inc. Under the agreement Hill's will provide nearly 94,000 kg. of dog, cat, puppy and kitten food each year.
The goal of the Hill's "Second Chance for Love" program is to ensure that shelter animals are as healthy as possible to increase their chances of adoption.
"It is a huge benefit to have our food costs covered across the province," says Busch, adding that other donations, including monetary gifts and "wish list" items like leashes, collars, toys and scratching posts, are still needed.
"We are grateful for the many ways that individuals and local businesses reach out to help the animals in our care. We could not exist without their generosity."
