CRD elected officials off to a running start at the Annual Conference
Vancouver, BC – The Cariboo Regional District (CRD) and the Cariboo Chilcotin Regional Hospital District (CCRHD) have hit the ground running at the annual Union of British Columbia Municipalities conference and AGM in Vancouver. Over the next four days, local government representatives including the CRD will be meeting in Vancouver to attend workshops, vote on proposed resolutions from across the province and to lobby the provincial government through ministerial meetings on local issues on behalf of their constituents.
On Monday, September 28, 2009, CCRHD Chair, Rick Mumford, joined by Vice Chair Mary Sjostrom and staff to meet with the Northern Health Authority. During the meeting the CCRHD delegates requested an explanation of the new H1N1 Strategy and what Northern Health envisioned as the role of the Regional Hospital District in the event of a situation. The group also requested an update with regard to anticipated capital expenditures in the future for North Cariboo health care facilities.
Later in the day, in the meeting with Interior Health, the CCRHD Chair was joined by former CCRHD Chair and current CRD Chair, Al Richmond and staff to discuss the Cariboo Memorial Hospital Phase Two development plan, additional resident care capacity and other proposed capital expenditures as part of the CCRHD’s 10 Year Capital Plan.
The CCRHD Chair and Board members also attended an important Regional Hospital District Cost Sharing Review presentation. In that meeting Regional Hospital District delegates from across BC discussed the findings of the Ministry of Health Services report which examines the implementation of recommendations from the 2003 Regional Hospital District Cost Sharing Review.
The CRD was well represented at a number of workshops and forums held throughout the day with varying topics such as First Nations Reconciliation, Green Communities and Championing Community Challenges.
